Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she was only five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Since the age of 6 Emma realized that she wanted to become an actress and for some time she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied singing dancing and acting. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions before she turned ten. Casting began in 1999 with the casting process for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre professor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditioning for eight times. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made in 2001. The film set records in terms of the opening weekend and numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. It was highly praised by reviewers, and so were the performances of its three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for an Feature Film. Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film.
